Community Fest At The Vine

67fbWhat is growing on the vine of your life? We have all heard the nursery rhyme, “Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?” Well, I don’t know what Mary is growing in her garden, but I know it depends on what Mary is sowing.

Today, I saw seeds of praise and fellowship being sown as community churches (Truevine M.B. Church, Evergreen United Methodist, Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church & Saint Hill C.O.G.I.C.), all of Brandon, MS, assembled together at Truevine M.B. Church to offer their best praises to God. These churches get together yearly for two days of fellowship and praise.

Spiritual and Physical Wellness Women's Conference

Jasmine2What is spiritual wellness? It means that one has a spiritually sound and healthy relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is based on the choices we make about our worship and praise or lack of. We are all spiritual beings because we have a spirit. However, if our spirit is not in line with God, we are without a doubt, spiritually unhealthy.

What is physical wellness? It means that our physical being (our body) is healthy, well-maintained, and free of illnesses or disease. Physical wellness is based on the dietary choices and the fitness choices we make. We have often heard, “You are what you eat.” Medical staff will say that if we eat healthy foods, we will be healthy. They will also say that if we eat foods high in fat, cholesterol, sodium, and sugar, we will be fatigued, unhealthy, and that disease awaits us. However, the truth is that if we are spiritually well, physical wellness will follow.

Afraid of the Truth

02241622I received an email from a friend of mine today.  After reading the note I was very upset because I knew that my friend was very hurt by the turn of events.  You see, Pauline is an author and she was to have a book signing at her church.  The church has about 600 members so she bought 100 copies of her book to sell at the signing.

The pastor had not read her book and he refuses to promote the book in his church due to the married couple having affairs and there being a sex scene in the book. I have the book called, “Winter’s Kisses,” and trust me there is nothing graphic in it at all.

There is no profanity and the book is a story about a married couple that loses their way and through the help of a missionary is able to save their marriage.
